Next year is the 85th Anniversary of the City of Venice. The City plans a series of events to celebrate the occasions including special activities at the Venice Airport on May 19 Armed Forces Day as a tentative date. Planning has begun. Some of the potential activities include possibly a static display of appropriate aircraft and other memorable vehicles and a USO style hangar dance.

VASI has been asked to help in the planning and management of these events or activities. Quite a switch from a few years ago when the airport was in the cross hairs. We need volunteers both as leaders and to help set up some of the activities.

Please be advised that a new parasailing business (www.veniceparasailing.com) has recently been established in Venice. They have advised us that they will be operating at or below 400-feet MSL between Venice and Nokomis Beaches. They also will be towing an advertising banner at or below 100-feet MSL between Nokomis Beach and Sharky's. We have oriented them with airport traffic patterns and airport operations.
