Notice:UPDATE: Due to the Bald Eagle mating cycle and the presence of Bald Eagles on the radio tower, completion of the AWOS project may be subject to a further delay of May 1st. Effective immediately and until further notice, the Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS), 119.27Mhz, is out of commission. Pilots operating in and out of Venice Municipal Airport should be advised that the only favorable runway information available will be the wind T, windsocks and pilot reports. Suncoast Air Center also monitors the field CTAF, 122.72 Mhz and does report last runway used, upon request, during normal business hours. Terminal Area OperationsWithout adequate information available regarding weather conditions on the field prior to arrival, traffic pattern ambiguity may exist. Pilots are cautioned to monitor the CTAF as soon as practicable in order to anticipate and locate traffic in the terminal area. The last recorded remarks on AWOS included: This is a courtesy advisory only and does not constitute an official NOTAM issued by the FAA. Pilots are advised to contact FSS at (800) 992-7433 for official information, in accordance with FAR Part 91 operations. A replacement AWOS is not anticipated to be operational until some time in 2010. |
